A New Update and The Future Of Fortwars

Scout and I have been working on refactoring a lot of the gamemode systems to allow us to create gamemodes quickly and easily. We have added a deathmatch mode and with more planned.
I added a more interactive dedicated server console to be allow the user to select gamemodes and maps.

Behind the scenes we've been working on a complete refactor to how we handle gamemodes. Instead of everything being hardcoded we have a much more modular system. This doesn't mean much for you the players, but behind the scenes it means we can create new modes way quicker than before. To test this, we've also added in a brand new deathmatch gamemode that you can play on some supported maps. Right now it is pretty barebones but in the future we are looking to expand upon it with more features such as map pickups and also our own custom maps!
One major area that we wanted to improve upon was the feel of each weapon. Shooting is a fundamental part of the game and we wanted to make sure that it felt good and responsive. We still have a long way to go but it is so much better than before!

During the creation of the game a lot of the UI was lifted from TTT. However I'm currently trying to overhaul the UI now to bring it in a different direction. Currently it is quite different from how it was before and an improvement. But we still have a long way to go and I'm still working on new concepts. Along with this we are using a brand new dynamic crosshair system. Deadlock players may find the ammo counter on the crosshair to be a familiar but useful sight.

We will be holding a playtest for this game on Saturday at 4pm ET (Or Sunday at 8am AEST for the correct people). Specifically we will be looking for any major bugs to fix, and general feedback on the mode and weapons. If you would like to join in, please join our discord for updates on the event here
We have a lot planned for the future of this game and it is incredibly exciting. As a lot of you may know there is currently another Fortwars gamemode on the platform that is aiming for a more classic experience. While there may have been some drama in the past we think it is a good idea to leave them to do their own thing and branch off in our own direction. So as such we will be completely rebranding the game and trying out some new ideas. This won't be a basic change of name however. We are looking at creating an almost entirely new game that has some of the essence of Fortwars but is almost completely different in everyway. It will take a while to get there, and might not even see the light of day but we are super excited to see the development of this through and bring something more unique to the S&box platform!

I would also like to thank everybody for all the support. It's obvious this game has it's rough edges and is not the greatest game in the world, but we are trying to make something fun here. Thank you all for sticking with us through this and we can't wait to give further updates!
