This is our first content update since the start of a public beta! We're adding new gamemode, and also four new maps. You will also see bunch of improvements and fixes in this update.
We'll be hosting new playtest on February 15th at 2PM EST, or 19:00 GMT.
If you're interested to join us to playtest new maps and other new features, please feel free to visit our official Discord. We will post any updates on playtest there, and you may catch us hanging out in VC during the event.
One in the Chamber is a new gamemode made by yart. Every player has a revolver with one bullet: if you kill someone, enemy dies and you get another bullet. If you miss, you switch to melee.
It is free-for-all, which means that you fight everybody on the server, and whoever gets required amount of kills wins the match.
Suburbs is a high-density, low space map for free for all gamemode. Take advantage of the buildings, or stay on the streets and kill everyone, if you're good enough. This is somewhat a remix of Coastal, since lots of assets here were taken from that map.
I grabbed the cargo ship from Tanker map and made it a separate, small FFA map. There is nothing else outside of the ship - so you're locked there with bunch of other players until someone wins, or until this ship gets destroyed. Don't jump into the water!
It is an extremely small FFA map, which I think will be best played in lobbies with 4-8 players. It may be good for 1v1 or 2v2 matches, too, probably!
Sawmill is a new small free-for-all map. I have received feedback that lots of our maps in the current pool are too large, so currently I am focusing on adding more smaller maps. This one has a size of 200x200 blocks, which should be somewhat comfortable for small lobbies.
There's nothing else I can possibly tell about this map, just try it yourself!
Unfortunately, Goblin Airlines didn't listen when they were told that airplane pilots must have a license... and they learned this lesson the hard way.
You're now being dispatched to investigate the crash site & eliminate any enemies that try to... uh... nobody knows why are you fighting there, to be honest.
I've slightly changed the assault rifle animation to be less annoying for fellow americans. Back in September I was told that the reload animation for assault rifle doesn't make sense, and isn't realistic: it was so annoying for them, one of the Small Fish programmers ended up trying to re-do animation themselves. They are that desperate when they see unrealistic gun representation. Wow.
Now, this has changed. It should be a bit better now. If you were annoyed by the previous animation too, this should not be a problem anymore.
I have updated achievement icons so they don't just appear as blank images. They are not perfect but should add some extra sovl to the game... right?
We'll probably add more achievements in the near future, including gamemode-specific ones. Matek added back all of the old achievements alongside fixing the granting of the "Shrimply Incredible" achievement.
gio worked on a nice way to ban and kick players from the current lobby if they're causing trouble for everyone. If you're an admin, open the scoreboard, and using your mouse right-click on any user that you want to kick from the match.
We've adjusted map voting system to avoid situations where nearly all vote options are maps for a single gamemode. Map options should be significantly more balanced now, and offer more gamemodes to choose.
Matek and I did some adjustments to the lobby creator. It has been updated and now it doesn't display maps that are not supported by the selected game mode. Our map pool has increased a lot since we've added lobby creator, so it doesn't make sense to show unsupported maps in the list anymore. We also now show a default icon for any maps that have yet to receive a proper image.
We've restored access to the old lobby browser I wrote a while ago. There are a few improvements including the ability to see when the lobby browser has finished looking for lobbies. I've also added a refresh button in case you are waiting for a specific lobby to appear. I imagine in the future we'll make more improvements as the number of servers grows.
