You could have in-game currency or drops of certain cosmetics for people that clock in a lot of hours or watch streamers. Would be good for playerbase retention and getting higher conversion rates, as long as you obv don't overdo it. Fact of the matter is, people will want certain cosmetics for the simple fact that they're rare and expensive. Most F2P games tend to be carried and funded by a handful of "whales" that generate most of the revenue.
If this helps funding the game makers, the devs and the artists, while keeping the game cheap for people from less fortunate backgrounds, I see little room for ethical concerns. Could maybe piss you off if you're a collector of some kind. That, however, is a rather strange hobby to get into if you weren't born with rich parents and if you are too squeamish to part with at least 1 kidney.
