Using Workshop cosmetics

Am I allowed to use accepted Workshop cosmetics in my game, even if I modify them (e.g. change the color), or do I have to stick to the original uploaded versions to be eligible for the Play Fund?
Does the same apply to yet unaccepted cosmetics uploaded? Am I allowed to use them also for my game and be eligible for the Play Fund or does it totally depend on the individual creator, before the cosmetic is accepted to the shop?

P. S.: It would be nice to have some data on the licensing of uploaded assets, though I think the dev team has probably other stuff to do atm.

Officially the monetization page states Play Fund eligibility requires using "stuff from sbox.game where author permission is implicit, stuff you created, or stuff with an open license." So it's a bit cloudy. I would try to message the creator of assets about these things, if you have permission then you have a shield against a revoked Play Fund.

TLDR; If you think that the guy will flip if you suddenly got popular for a map or anything that they made probably just ask them, saves you tons on lawyers

After reading your quote, 'implicit' would mean that the cosmetics might always be uploaded with the permission of the author for it being used in games created with S&box (as long the item was also created by the author lol).
But I see the benefit of being cautious. Thank you for the reply. I hope someone from the dev team will answer too :)!
