I've attempted to publish scenes to the workshop multiple times trying many different things, even reducing the scene down to a couple of blocks. Nothing seems to stick in the published version, maybe a skybox, point light, and models from the workshop populate but meshes are invisible. The objects remain in the hierarchy but do not show up when played in game or when downloaded and dragged into a scene from the cloud browser within the editor. Anyone else?

I published a test map for testing in sandbox and the floor mesh does not render in game and you fall through it. However everything appears to be working while in scene.

I dont understand.

This has been broken for at least a month, there are multiple pull requests open to fix it, not sure why none of the fixes have been merged.

Very interesting to read through these. If push comes to shove I might try to apply some of these fixes to my own setup but it's a bit too technical for me. Hopefully something gets officially patched soon. Thank you for sharing.

Hmm, it appears it's just recently broken indeed.

e.g., therefore I had to convert all of the Mesh Component objects into vmdl, & then re-add & align it back as close as possible.

Here's my broken map with such workaround: This is Sparta test map, Pyramid of Cubes Box3D Test map

It is extremely unelegant, apologies. As caveats are:
  • Interactible by manipulation guns like Toolgun & Physgun. Mesh Component & Hammer map instance are ignored as you can see in my Minimal Pen. This one if you shoot with toolgun or phsygun nothing's happened. You try that with 2 newest above, it does something & you can even scale the whole map too! Luckily I did not updated it knowing that right now map compiling here is broken af right now, had I do that so, Minimal Pen goes down too with it. Remember, it's now compiled based (scene_c).
  • Fall Damage goes finicky & often times malfunctions. idk how to validate this, but yeah, you try the This is Sparta test and go fall down there. My hypothesis is then the Mesh Component keeps working reliably, like try to fly high noclip at Flatgrass & then fall. Or maybe it was because the down there is where it's finicky as always due to Single Float limitation?
EDIT: Funny enough tho, I recently reupdated Testpen after another code missing error fix. Thankfully works, and the Dzhanibekov demo which has Mesh Component cage works too! HUH?! How??

Older scenes that haven't been recompiled will still load fine. There is another workaround where you convert the data in the scene_d file back to the old format right before publishing. I haven't tried it myself, but someone on Discord was claiming to have a tool to automate that.
