I’ve tried the latest update. I was hoping for some performance improvements, but that hasn’t happened yet. On the bright side, the game has shifted toward realistic-looking characters, moving away from those silly "sausage-like" figures. Here are some of my experiences and thoughts:
Still runs poorly on mid-to-low-end PCs, even at lowest settings:
====================== My PC specifications: PC desktop Windows 10 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz - RAM: 16 GB NVIDIA Quadro K2200 - VRAM: 4 GB ======================
Well, I have a few points that the developers—who likely use powerful PCs—might not have noticed: whenever I get close to a visual effect, such as smoke, my FPS drops significantly. This happens even with just a single instance of the effect; imagine how much worse it would be if more effects appeared at once. Even though I lowered all quality settings, the effects still cause a very significant drop in FPS.
Issues with colliding with a prop when on another server:
When you are on someone else's server or a dedicated server, a problem occurs while trying to grab something, and the collision doesn't work correctly for props.
On the other hosting server: On your server:
Well, that was my take on the current experience. There are still some other things I haven’t tested yet, but if the developer is interested in my feedback, I could conduct further testing—provided that my input is actually valued, so I don’t feel like I’m just wasting my time.
I'm sorry to have to tell you, but your PC specs are not near the mid range. 😥 You're using DDR3 RAM with this. It definitely sits in the low-end, perhaps one could call this legacy hardware.
Sadly I think the performance will stay an issue for you. 😕 Of course I hope performance gets improved, like matt announced in the recent blogpost.
