How have we not heard ?!

Hey!

So uh ... this seems like huge news but only recently I personally heard about it via this youtube channel today:
I have a couple questions:

1. How the hell are their so many games already on the platform if it's not even available on steam?
2. How does the github have 2k issues and 88 PRs, when it's again, not available on steam?

I'm a unity developer and this is the first I'm hearing of this engine (though I think I heard about it in the works related to rust a couple years ago but my memory on this is rusty)

S&box technically isn't out but people have had access to it for awhile now, I got it through someone on their discord. However, I believe you can request a developer preview now. I'm a unity developer too, genuinely considering switching over from it though to use s&box as my main engine as I love what they're doing with it so far.

Because you can add the developer preview via this website to your steam library? I did it yesterday when, I also, saw it from that channel.

The engine was and still currently is in a developer preview for about 5 years now, but actual work only really started after 2023

So, everything available so far given comments and everything else I've seen, the answers are:

1. A REALLY passionate and long-lived community of Valve-fans, GMOD devs + fans, and Source Engine fans.
2. Yup I got instant access to the developer preview. It's glitchy tho cuz I'm a linux guy. Currently testing on a Fedora PC and got it running via Photon Experimental. It launched at the wrong resolution but once I changed that it seemed mostly stable. Couldn't figure out how to get the editoir screen though ...

Bro I was in the same place as you this week. Really enjoying the level of polish at this point though. I was happy to see Linux is on the roadmap but It looks like I was right to assume it's janky right now.
