Everything makes sense, if you see it through to the end.

This is a demo, made in a few weeks for s&box Game Jam III. The game isn't finished yet: some parts are still rough and bugs may remain.

Au Loin is a first-person narrative game about one more dose.

Under the city, a young man lives in a service tunnel: a camp bed, two boxes,
and a blister pack of OMR, a new pill that sends you back into your own dreams.
He has one reason to take it. He takes far too many.

WHAT YOU DO

Dream. Every dose opens the same impossible evening: a pastel bar by a lake.
Darts, billiards, fishing, cooking, karting, five handmade mini-games played
for real, with her. You're not there to win. You're there to stay.

Remember. Between doses, a piece of his real past comes back in pixel art.
A school, one year of it, people he used to know. Walk around, talk, help out,
choose what you say. Some things only get said once.

Wake up. Back under the city, with his notebook, an old telly and the pills.
Then you decide: one more dose, or not.

WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR

Somewhere in those memories is a phone number he never finished writing down.
Each memory hides a piece of it. Find them all, and maybe he can finally do
something he never did.

The nights in between are not always quiet.

- Single player, about two hours, best played in one sitting
