Simple to learn, INSANELY hard to master. Genuinely feels like I'm a fighter jet dodging and weaving around planes to secure kills without losing too much health. Its hard af but its tons of fun!
With that said, health and variety is a bit lacking. Wave 4+ introduces firing enemies that, unlike you, don't need to line up their shots to hit you. On one hand it creates an awesome dynamic where I'm watching the minimap and steering just outside of range of all the red dots as I scower for health or wait for a straggling unit to separate from the pack for me to take down. On the other hand, with how scarce health spawns are and how quickly they despawn, I spent a lot of the game just idling around in circles waiting for health to spawn so I can actually attempt to fight enemies without being at risk of being shot down in seconds which isn't fun. It is thrilling, but very annoying when most of the gameplay is spent hiding from enemies until you can heal.
There is unlockable content with an endless mode, a one-shot challenge mode, and multiple challenge-related skins you can unlock. And for the few dozen or so enemies you get, the variety of enemies really keeps you on your toes. For as simplistic as the enemy design was (most if not all of them either varied in health, mobility, or combat style: kamikaze or ranged), I certainly enjoyed fighting each enemy as they all brought something unique to the table with changes as simple as slightly faster movement making a huge difference in practice. But I wish there were more maps with obstacles to avoid instead of just the air mines, different classes of planes to fly each with their own unique mobility and offensive options, even more unique enemies to fight, etc.
For the short time I've been exploring this platform, this is easily my favorite game I've played so far. It is an absolute blast! But I feel like its too bare bones and lacking. Definitely needs either new content or just a sequel that expands upon the gameplay beyond the simplicity of aiming, dashing, and health pickups.
