A china gravy boat worn as a captain's hat, brim-full and dripping, riding a plaid napkin. The flag says GRAVY.
Somebody heard "pass the gravy boat" and took it personally.
It's the good china: a cream gravy boat with a worn gold rim, sitting on its matching saucer like a captain's hat, still full to the brim with hot brown gravy. Some of it has already gone over the side. A plaid dinner napkin underneath keeps it from sliding off (mostly), the ladle is still in it, and a little paper flag on a toothpick proudly says GRAVY, so everyone knows who's in charge.
Wear it to dinner. Wear it to war. Just don't nod.
