One pyre. Endless nights. How long can you keep it burning?
The epidemic has closed the town. Fog has swallowed the streets, and the afflicted would appreciate a word. Their only complaint is the fire, which, unfortunately, needs fuel.
Fortunately, the bodies burn nicely.
Venture into the dark for tallow and ammo. Then drag the dead back to the fire by the ankle, walking backwards as tradition dictates. Hold the square for as many nights as the fuel allows, alone or with up to three friends.
It will not be enough. It never is.
THE NIGHT
- Feed the pyre with tallow and bodies. The run ends when the fire dies or everyone is down.
- Each night brings a bigger wave. From night 4 they come down two alleys at once, and from night 8, three.
- Every fifth night, the Hulk comes.
- Rats swarm the dark. They bite anyone who strays from the light, and they eat bodies left out too long.
- Barricades block the alleys. Repair them with scrap before they break.
- Break crates in the dark for scrap.
- In co-op, a downed player can be helped back up.
THE ARSENAL
- Revolver: six shots, reloaded one round at a time.
- Blunderbuss: a wide spray of shot at close range.
- Rifle: one heavy round that hits from far off.
- Meat cleaver: no ammo, and it still swings while you drag a body.
THE GUNSMITH'S BENCH
- Spend the team's scrap on upgrades at the bench. Each stacks to level 5.
- Team upgrades: a bigger pyre, stronger barricades, more ammo capacity, faster repairs.
- Gun powerups: spread shot, explosive rounds, big bullets. Mix them on any weapon, the cleaver too.
BETWEEN RUNS
- Unspent scrap goes into your purse, and the purse carries over.
- The pedlar's cart sells the blunderbuss and the rifle once you have survived long enough.
- He also sells revive salts, boxes of rounds and tallow torches to take into the next run.
- Classic mode: revolver and cleaver only, with its own leaderboard.
- Leaderboards for both modes. The main score counts nights survived, bodies burned and crates broken.
