Choose your map, earn science, and build things your way. This update opens both Stone Age and Copper Age from the start and adds a shared science tree with three branches: Camp, Vehicle, and Runner.
- Science replaces shells for research and upgrades. Earn 5 science for each completed Stone Age lap and 10 for a valid Copper Age descent, with research and upgrades that can improve those rewards.
- Research discoveries individually, including Radio, vehicle crafting, and runner improvements. Hover over the science icons to see their costs, requirements, and benefits.
- Track completion separately for each map, with separate leaderboards.
- Explore the reworked Copper Age village, with primitive tents, upgradeable buildings, villagers, a shared fire, and a more natural starting area.
- Smoothed the downhill road and blended its edges into the hillside to improve the ride and make getting back onto the road easier.
- Added more life around Trolltunga: a chicken-lifting ceremony, fire breath turning into smoky hearts, and chickens wandering away into the woods.
- Look around freely with the mouse while driving.
- Improved the seated driver and added timber supports to the car.
- Added Heroic radio with three tracks: Only the Bravest, Code of Honor, and Red Canyon. Select it with 5; radio power remains on 4.
Existing owned upgrades and researched discoveries are retained. Old shell balances remain stored for compatibility but are no longer spendable. Progression reset is available under Settings.
The second map, Copper Age, is still a work in progress, with more details and improvements to come. Thanks for playing Built to Lap!
- Reworked the camp with a timber shelter, a reed roof and a wooden age sign.
- Added a wooden platform and ramp for your car, with supports for cars that don't have wheels yet.
- Added a bench beside the campfire and a tiny baby chicken that helps keep it burning with little fire breaths.
- Improved the runner's polishing, pickup and carrying animations, including the grip around the car's bars.
- Shortened the birdsong ambience and made it repeat smoothly at a steadier volume.
- Birdsong now continues through the departure animation before fading as gameplay begins.
- Cleaned up the menu's stone frame, spacing and buttons.
- Added a New Game confirmation. Starting fresh replaces your stadium, equipment and shells while keeping achievements, personal records and car colours.
