Borrowed Shot is a room-by-room roguelite shooter, solo or co-op. It was made for Game Jam III and it is not finished. It will have bugs. This thread is where I would like to hear about them.
What actually helps
A bug I can reproduce is a bug I can fix. The more of this you can give me, the better:
- Which room, and what Heat. Both are on the HUD, top right. Almost everything in this game scales with those two numbers — enemy health, how much a room pays, how many bodies get sent at you — so "room 14 at SEARING" narrows it down further than any description can.
- Solo or co-op, and how many of you. Co-op has had far less play than solo. If something only goes wrong with a friend in the room, say so plainly — that is the most useful sentence in the whole report.
- What you were holding, and whether you had a line of credit open at the time.
- What you expected instead. "The door did not open" and "the door opened and I could not walk through it" are two different bugs with nothing in common.
- A screenshot, if the thing can be seen. One image settles arguments that three paragraphs cannot.
Don't worry about writing it up neatly. A rough note with the room number beats a polished one without it.
One thing worth interrupting me for
If you ever see a red NOT BEING SAVED banner over your coin count, please say so straight away, and tell me what you had just done — extracted, bought something, sold a trophy. It means the server refused to write your bank, and the coins from that session are at risk until it is sorted. Everything else can wait; that one cannot.
Known, no need to report
- Some placeholder sound effects and enemy voices are AI-generated and will be replaced. All art and models are hand-made or from Facepunch's asset library.
Balance is welcome too, separately
"This weapon feels useless", "room 12 is a wall", "I never use the line of credit" — that is not a bug but it is exactly as useful, and the credit line in particular is where the game is still finding its shape. Say it here, just tell me it is balance and not a crash so I know which pile it goes in.
Thanks for playing it.
