Hi,
I'm a linux user.

For some reason the Linux build doesn't contain any executable.

I would guess it's not built for Linux (yet?) and this is fine, but then the Linux depot should probably be private/removed to avoid the confusion?

I'm on Nobara. I got it to work by using Winetricks and ticking Proton-GE in the compatibility thing. I installed .NET 10.0 Desktop to the current prefix and just manually ran the already existing exe from the common/sbox/sbox-dev.exe location. But yeah the sbox editor does a 0 byte install on Steam under common/sbox 2129370/and puts an EmptySteamDepot folder inside.

Pretty sure the appid shouldn't be in the folder name and it should also just go to the common/sbox/ folder, my guess is someone fucked up when inputting the paths for the repo.

Facepunch won't make it natively, it's open source, and works on proton, if u want native, you gotta do it yourself or wait for someone else to do it and help them, or B. just use proton

The actual Proton version of the Steam listing tied to the S&box Editor is also broken and you cannot even use Proton to launch it because it comes up with a missing sbox-dev.exe error. You have to use Winetricks to launch sbox-dev.exe from the sbox folder instead. I tried doing a symlink but it didn't work for me initially, although that might have been before I figured out how to install .NET 10.0 Desktop to the Proton/Wine prefix.

I'll try experimenting with the symlink method later today when I'm back in front of my PC, but if anyone is feeling adventurous (not my fault if you break your system) you can try doing the following at your own risk:
# Install .NET 10.0 Desktop to S&Box Editor using winetricks (check tuts or ask AI to help)
winetricks --gui

# Symlink the .exe files themselves (theoretically safer):
ln -s /path/to/steamapps/common/sbox/sbox-dev.exe "/path/to/steamapps/common/sbox 2129370/sbox-dev.exe"

# Or make a new symlink from the S&box Editor folder to the S&box Game folder
# (might break shit, haven't tested this command, run at your own risk):
ln -s /path/to/steamapps/common/sbox "/path/to/steamapps/common/sbox 2129370"

If anything breaks, just delete the symlinks, verify integrity and redownload. I'll update this when I get a chance.
