Hi,

Is anyone having success on Linux yet?

Per the recommendations, I'm trying to use the editor through Steam.  Of course, clicking on the editor option in my library brings up an error with a windows path looking for sbox-dev.exe, so I add the sbox-dev in the ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/sbox/sbox-dev as a non-steam game and am able to get in to the editor.
Then there's the error where the game crashes when you try to load a project, but if you go to properties and add this as a launch option you can load a project: LD_PRELOAD=~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/sbox/bin/linuxsteamrt64/libHarfBuzzSharp.so %command%

But the editor crashes when I try to use any of the model editor, material editor, animgraph, hammer.  Indeed, the console notes that a number of libraries are failing to load.

I'm on Nobara Linux.

How is it going for others?

I've been tinkering trying to get it to run on my manjaro laptop but didn't get very far yet. I'll try your launch command, so thanks for sharing that here!

I think because valve stuff like mdoel editor, material editor, animgraph, hammer etc. are windows only, they don't work on linux. I was a bit confused about that. I guess you can still use the editor on linux but as soon as you need to use that stuff you probably would be better off using proton again...

However maybe I understood that wrong, I still need to try it out on linux for myself.

I believe that I read somewhere that facepunch is looking to replace all of that stuff with their own tooling, but not sure how that applies to animgraph or if that's still planned. Would be good to have the editor fully working on other platforms I guess.

Those menu options for the Valve native tools are supposed to be disabled, and they will at least be for sure in the next patch.

We're not going to support Valve native tools on Linux, we have our own C# editor solutions for: Material Editor, ModelDoc, Animgraph 2 and Hammer all either shipped or close to shipping.
