The current drop system instigates review bombing whatever game is selected to have the harder achievement of the weekly set. Players may also choose to give up early after deciding an achievement is too hard. However, making the drop only require easy achievements would ruin the point of the new design.
Idea
Change the system to require unlocking X number of achievements from a larger set of achievements.
Keep the achievements limited to those from 3 specific games to keep the community focus aspect of the new system.
When a game has multiple achievements, the selection should generally include one hard achievement and one "benchmark" achievement. The latter should be achievable only after playing for a longer amount of time and repeatedly failing to clear the hard achievement.
Games do not necessarily need to have the same number of possible achievements. Requiring all games of the selected 3 to have the same number of achievement options may limit the nature of games chosen for this.
The number of achievements to earn and the number of achievements spotlighted may also vary weekly.
To ensure all games are played, X should be be greater than the total number of achievements chosen from any 2 games of the selected 3.
This design is more palpable to players by incorporating a pity system, though even after achieving pity they would have played a game long enough to potentially inspire them to finish the job and get the harder achievement. So, beyond just guarding games from review bombing it also encourages players to play the selected 3 games longer rather than just opt out of attempting.
