I know Facepunch and the community (or at least some members) aren’t very fond of upscaling, but could we eventually see some form of it in S&box? I know Deadlock and HLX have, or are going to have, some level of FSR 3.1+ implementation. Does S&box being open source change this conversation at all?

I know this isn't the first discussion on this topic, but I do think it’s useful, if only for anti-aliasing at native resolution. It could also help the game reach a wider audience on older hardware. If that’s not in the cards, maybe a modern, proper TAA implementation (without relying on TAAU) could be useful. Or perhaps a hybrid approach with MSAA + TAA, like id Tech engines use.

I know it's not a priority now, and we want to encourage developers to optimize their game. I completely agree. This could be a conversation for many months or years after full release. But even 8x MSAA does seem a little dated compared to DLAA or FSR native.

This will only become more relevant as the average consumer interest in 4k displays grow. 4k displays are getting quite cheap, before we know it little Timmys all over the world will be getting a 4k monitor as a birthday gift to pair with an existing 3060.

I am mainly curious whether Facepunch has sworn it off forever, if so, that's their prerogative and I can't really complain.

Love the work every developer within or outside of Facepunch is doing, thank you all! <3
