While recommendation algorithms can be useful, it’s probably not a good idea to for a game’s noticeability\success completely depend on it. My main concern is that the algorithm could potentially pigeon-hole the community into making specific content, basically what happens in other social media websites. I was thinking what if we had recommendation system (Something similar to Old YouTube) that allowed you to follow and recommend games to other users. Maybe adding additional ways for a game to get discovered could help mitigate the problem a little bit. (Maybe they could get a small payout if they can convince a bunch of people to try a game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) I would like to see a wider variety of games succeed on s&box.
(Correct me if I’m wrong) I think steam is facing a similar consolidation issue where the general user base gravitating to a smaller number of games.
