Ive been working on a game for a while now and had the visibility set to private to test with friends until release day. I didn't get any plays on release. I have a fully featured game package with screenshots, no AI assets, leaderboard, achievements a trailer and I feel like the gameplay is pretty fun. Is this just a skill issue? Does anyone have any tips?

What's the game? I’d like to check it out, but you might want to share what it’s about in your post. It’s pretty vague, though sometimes that can mean we’ve stumbled upon a hidden grail.

I think it could have been that I didn't have enough tags. The only tags I had were the ones selected from the list. This is the game here: https://sbox.game/deja/powerpegs

I think your thumbnail looks rough and that's probably one large part of what's making people not click.
Tags don't really matter much on this platform, the real important thing is just getting large numbers of players/reviews/long playtimes as soon as possible.

Visually your game is just generally a bit rough also and that might be turning people off. The colors clash and the gradients look amateurish / dated, and the giant impact font looks amateurish as well.

puzzle games are a hard niche anywhere. The audience mostly craves action or big number sims atm. Fix the thumbnail, but don't read too much into the launch numbers. If you're someone who really liked Peggle, just know you're the best Peggle game available and lean into that. Aside from all that, your game gave me real nostalgia for the Peggle addons from WoW. I did notice you offer a roguelite experience but didn't tag it as such that'd be a good place to start, might help with whatever discovery algorithm they're running.

Subside that I'd say focus on the roguelite and possibly give yourself some more unique level design, maybe even seed a few peggle generations that are more approachable for new players so they experience the game in a controlled manner.

your not going to be able to compete with my rose tinted goggles here on what i remember peggle being but it's a good foundation, but you can see a little bit of the unique level design below different shapes would go a long way i think but its your game your style just tossing it out there.

Thank you for the feedback, Ive decided to hire an art degree friend to help me out with the art. For level generation I also really enjoy the peggle shapes and slides but have been intimidated by the idea of randomly generated splines. I like your suggestion of seeding some static elements from peggle so I might look into some adding some preset shapes. As for your short king my avatar is also min height so im not sure what's going on but ill take a look, they will absolutely get a little love.
