The Festering - Withdrawals | My First Impressions & Gameplay
I've recently spent some time playing The Festering - Withdrawals live on my gaming channel, and I have to say, this is one of the most enjoyable FPS experiences I've had on s&box so far.
For anyone who hasn't heard of it yet, The Festering - Withdrawals is the first game in The Festering series. It's a fast-paced first-person shooter featuring semi-randomized level generation that pushes you to climb as many floors as possible while maximizing your score each run. No two runs feel exactly the same, which keeps the gameplay fresh and highly replayable.
The game takes clear inspiration from titles such as Post Void, Cruel, Hotline Miami, and other high-intensity shooters. If you're a fan of any of those games, you'll immediately feel at home here. (And if you haven't played Post Void or Cruel yet, definitely give them a try—they're fantastic.)
What stood out to me the most was the overall presentation. The weapon variety is great, combat feels satisfying, and the NPC hit reactions and animations add a lot of impact to every encounter. Every shot feels meaningful, which is exactly what a game like this needs.
The mapping and environmental details deserve special praise as well. The procedural nature of the levels never made them feel bland, and there was always something interesting to look at while pushing forward. Combined with the soundtrack, the game creates a constant sense of pressure and momentum that keeps you locked in from start to finish.
Overall, I had an absolute blast playing it and can easily recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, aggressive FPS experience on s&box.

Ngl, this game is something else. The soundtrack and level design + playing it self. Mixed game feelings, the darkness is out to get you, together we enemies and the stuff you take along the road. Max Payne 1 vibes, pluss Postal 2/4. Dark and fun to play at the same time!
