These are a list of features that I will be working on over the coming weeks. I will list them based on what I think is appropriate priority, according to nobody.
Game Modes (These are not top priority but easier listed here instead of near the bottom).
- Regicide: One King per team, bonus health + halved cooldowns, worth triple points.
- Freeze Tag: Tagged = frozen in place, teammate thaws you by standing near. Move your head when frozen, enjoy the scenery.
- Hot Zone: One arena sector is worth double points, rotates every 45s.
- Payload: Push a glowing energy core to enemy base. Maybe it will be a cart of disco balls.
- Hot Potato: Timer on one player, tag someone to pass it, timer hits zero you're out.
- Phantom: One permanently cloaked, portal spamming player. Maybe has been replaced with classic Infected game mode (listed below as #1).
- Lights Out Speedrun: Co-op, destroy all lights as fast as possible. Leaderboard times.
- Territories: Map divided into zones, control lights to claim them, held zones earn points.
High Priority
- Arcade Infection mode: Halo 3 style horde mode. One starter infected, melee only, fast respawn, survivors hold out. Choke points, elevation. Old CSS zombies feel but slower like Halo infected.
- Light Flare on Death: All strips burst bright and send a reaction into the air. Inspired from Arc Raiders.
- Momentum Glow: The faster you move, the brighter your strips. Think about your positioning. Hide in a corner if you'd like.
- MVP screen: End of round stats; Most tags, most lights destroyed, best accuracy, scaredy cat, marathon runner, etc.
- Dynamic Announcer: Announcer that narrates events such as first tag, double tag, objective score, hot streak, etc.
- Introduction Room: An area where players can get on their feet before joining a game. Test equipment, spawn bots, afk and eat a sandwich.
- Firing Styles: Charge your bolt for more damage and a brighter shot. Turn it to 3 round burst for more burst damage but higher cooldown rate between shots.
Lower but not low priority
- Recharge stations: Fixed map points to restore equipment energy. Eventually being tagged will increase cooldowns, increase overcharge rate on weapons, etc. Recharge stations will mitigate those effects.
- Rejoin mechanic: Tagged out players find a station to re-enter the match instead of passive respawn timer. In conjunction with recharge stations.
- Dynamic Spawn Points: Respawn at nearest lit area far from enemies. Spawn locations shift as lights get destroyed.
- Repair Module: Repair and turn back on destroyed lights. Will be used in conjunction with new game modes.
- Round modifier voting: Between rounds, vote on a mutator for next round. Double fire rate, double movement speed, all players invisible, etc.
- Player titles and ranks: "Rookie" to "Operator" (subject to change) next to your name based on lifetime stats. Show off.
- Persistent stats + leaderboards: Lifetime tags, accuracy, win rate, portal kills. Numbers go up.
- Anti-snowball mechanics: Losing team gets subtle buffs; Faster tag out recovery, indestructible spawn lights.
- Decoy Projector: Fake player hologram with lit strips. Bait tool.
- Blackout Bomb: Throwable that instantly kills all lights in a radius.
- Gravity Lift: Deployable pad that launches anyone stepping on it. Combo with portals.
- Smoke Grenade: Smoke grenade.
- Tether Mine: Trap that leashes enemies to its position. Put 'em down like a dog.
- Blink Anchor: Place a marker, teleport back to it within 20s. Go through a portal first. Confuse your enemy. Confuse yourself.
- Cosmetic unlocks: Colors/patterns/glow effects tied to milestones.
- Clans: Start a clan and invite your friends (or strangers). Display your clan tag across your chest in neon glow.
- Kill cam / final kill replay: Last tag of the round. Make it a good one.
- Round intro cinematic: 3s camera sweep of the arena before spawn. Will be a nice once over with procedural maps.
- Spectator Arcade: Dead players can toggle one light every 15s, earn minor assist points. Maybe they can make their spirits glow as a distraction.
Low Priority but still planned
- EMP Pulse: Shuts down all equipment in radius.
- Gravity Snare: Throwable gravity well that traps bolts and slows movement.
- Emote / taunt wheel: 4-6 themed emotes; finger guns, salute, wave.
- Sudden Death Duels: Tied matches end in 1v1 spotlight duel.
I hope to implement most of these features starting from highest priority before S&box official release.
