Fight your way through opponents in a dingy basement boxing club. Read punches, slip and counter, then let coach Eddie pour you something between rounds. Bank your drink bonuses or risk another shot in a first-person boxing game where your stomach can betray you as quickly as your guard.

Your night plays out in two places: fighting and taking a breather in-between rounds with your coach Eddie.

The fighting

Read the wind-up, choose your defense and make the opening count. Throw quick jabs and heavier straights, switch between head and body shots, and wear down your opponent's stamina. Block hooks high, protect your ribs with a low guard, or slip a straight and answer with a stronger counter-punch.

Chain three clean hits, finishing with a straight or haymaker, and you can stagger your opponent. Keep enough stamina for the next exchange: punches, slips and blocked hits all cost energy, and an exhausted guard can break. Lower your gloves during a safe opening to catch your breath.

At 4 intoxication, you unlock the haymaker: a slow, heavy head punch with a serious stamina and nausea cost. More booze also means slower punch recovery. Push your nausea too far and you'll be left vomiting and exposed while your opponent is still swinging.

Each bout lasts up to three 20-second rounds. Score a knockout to end it early, or finish the final round with more health than your opponent to take the win.

Between rounds

The bell sends you back to Eddie's corner. Sit down, recover some stamina and settle your nausea, then decide whether to take a drink. There's no corner timer, and drinking is always optional.

Pick a glass and watch the bottle cap reveal its quality. Clean gives you the benefit. Rough gives you the benefit and adds one stomach strain. Sour gives you no benefit and adds two strain. Reach three strain and Eddie cuts you off, wiping out all the drink gains you've built during that corner. The intoxication stays.

Choose Back to the Fight to bank your gains before that happens. Bank three rewarding drinks in one corner to earn Dutch Courage, making successful slip-counters deal double damage throughout the next round.

Every serving comes from the same finite crate for that bout. The revealed caps and remaining supply carry into the next corner, giving you something to weigh up before ordering again. Every shot raises intoxication, whatever its quality. Your healing carries forward; damage, stamina-regeneration and Dutch Courage bonuses last for the next round.

Beat an opponent and Eddie offers one favor before the next fight: a non-alcoholic Recovery Drink for up to 20 health, or Fresh Air to remove up to three intoxication. Stamina refills and combat nausea clears automatically. Your remaining health and intoxication carry into the next bout, so tonight's choices can follow you all the way to the Landlord.
