To give you a little context as to why this map is so broken, I compiled this map on my dumpster PC build a little over 3 years ago on the lowest settings Hammer could reasonably deal with due to compile times. That combined with 2023 being a while ago meant a whole lot of engine updates to s&box itself broke a lot of shit which I'll cover in this post.

3D Skybox

Most of you have probably noticed in the previous version that the skybox looked black. Way too black. Unfortunately this wasn't the case when I first published this map, but either way I've went ahead and recompiled it properly now.

Shadows Fading

The lightmap in the old version had a very strange issue where it would fade away based on your camera distance. Again, I recompiled it properly now and it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

PBR Materials

Previously, I used kristiker's source1import to automate the porting process for materials and textures. While it was decent, it was really bad when it came to stuff like roughness maps, normal maps, masks and more. This time, I wrote my own script based on Xenthio's ToPBR from his RTX Remix compatibility mod for GMod, and the end results were very sexy.

I'll be fixing up a bunch of other things soon like soundscapes, entity I/O, and other remaining discrepancies. Please feel free to leave any feedback below if there's anything broken left, I'd appreciate it.
