Programmer - the build's weapon, V: Ship it (faster fire and feet for 6 s)
Artist - the Airbrush paints the floor: paint slows enemies and your hits on painted ones do +30%, V: Paint bucket
QA - Placeholder Pistol v2, hits file bug reports (+20% damage taken, +1 key), V: Regression test
Designer - four commits on every offer, V: Cut feature (remove the wave's worst patch note, once a wave)
Build server under load - keep the rack alive for a free commit
Hotfix needed - carry the hotfix to the deploy terminal to roll back the bad patch notes and heal
Critical bug - squash it before it gets away for a bounty of keys
Merge request - hold the review zone for +1 weapon level
Ranks 2, 3 and 4 also unlock the Artist, QA and the Designer
A role of the day, the same for everyone
Each player brings their own role, and both of you play the events
Costumes - every enemy can come dressed up: Frankenstein, scarecrow, black cat, devil, mummy, vampire, candy bucket, spider and candy corn, next to the pumpkin heads, bedsheets and witch hats
Boss costumes - THE REWRITE with a jack-o'-lantern head, SOON™ as a bat
Skeleton - a costume for you, DRESS on the title screen, for every career rank
Graveyard Shift - a song of its own for the main menu
Kill feed - costumed enemies show what they came as, and so does the game over screen
Wave 13 - pumpkin heads and candy buckets light up the dark, and eyes glow in their costume's colour
Costumes - both players see the same costumes, and player 2's skeleton wears a cyan cap
Co-op for two - host a build for friends or in public from the title's Co-op screen, or join one from the list
Joining friends - friends can join your build from the s&box friends list, and picking 2 players at Play hosts one for you
Shared build - one arena, one set of patch notes and commits, level-ups take turns
Revive - stand next to a downed partner to restart their process, shipping the wave brings everyone back
Tuned for two - more and tougher enemies, bosses with extra health
Rewards - both players earn half the team score as career XP, and team achievements unlock for both
Connection - your partner's ping on the HUD, and a warning when the connection drops
Remove - the host can remove a partner from a public build
Play - the game asks how many players and who can join before it starts, 1 player plays solo as before
Career - every run's score is career XP. 15 ranks from Intern to Retired, each one unlocks something. Players from before start at the rank they've earned
XP bonuses - the first build of the day earns double XP, daily build runs +50%
git rebase - reroll a commit offer (2 per build at Co-founder)
git revert - take a commit out of the pool for the rest of the build
Pick your stack - choose your starting weapon, the full stack at CTO
Crunch mode - tougher enemies for up to x2.2 score, three levels
Dress codes - a black hoodie, and a golden playtester for whoever retires
Code review - enemies at full health take +40% damage
Pair programming - a second playtester joins your run
Hotfix - once per wave, dropping below 30% HP heals you and knocks enemies back
Rubber duck - every few seconds a rubber duck flies at the toughest enemy and explains it to death
Title screen - the controls no longer wrap onto a second line
Daily build - one build for everyone each day, a new one at 00:00 UTC: the same map, release channel, starting weapon, enemy order and boss order
Same patch notes - every wave of the day's build rolls the same patch notes for everyone, and the commit offers come from the same rolls
Daily board - your best run of the day goes on the new DAILY tab of the leaderboards, next to yesterday's board. Retry as often as you like, only your best run counts
Spooky dailies - until Nov 8 the daily builds roll the Spooky Season too, so gm_graveyard can come up and SCOPE CREEP is the first boss
Title screen - the last line of the pitch spilled out of its box
Zombie Processes - they shamble in from wave 3, and killing one isn't enough. It goes down and lies there defunct: shoot the body or dash through it before it gets back up (kill -9), or it rises as a ghost that's faster and floats straight through props
Cursed wave 13 - every 13th wave the build server loses power. The screen goes dark and your aim is the only light, muzzle flashes, explosions, portals and jack-o'-lanterns light things up for a moment, and all you can see of the horde is their eyes. Something in a bedsheet is coming
SCOPE CREEP - a new boss made of feature requests. It starts as an MVP, then it's an MVP + multiplayer, then an MVP + multiplayer + open-world MMO, and it keeps growing for as long as you let it live
Unlabeled commits - a new card in the commit picker with no message and no diff. Trick or treat: a free rare or epic commit, or a regression ships with the next wave
Haunted build - a new patch note: some of the dead come back, some of them in bedsheets
Achievements - 3 new ones: kill -9, Power Restored and Scope Cut
Costumes - some Placeholders come as jack-o'-lanterns or bedsheet ghosts, and T-Posers wear witch hats
gm_graveyard - a new map at night, with a tombstone for everything we shipped: RIP FLASH, RIP CS:S, RIP MY WEEKEND
Pumpkins - jack-o'-lanterns on every map, and SCOPE CREEP is always the first boss
Main menu - dressed up too: a moonlit arena, fog, bats, a spider, cobwebs, a jack-o'-lantern and slime on the logo, and a music box playing somewhere
After Halloween - Zombie Processes, the cursed wave 13, SCOPE CREEP and unlabeled commits stay. Only the costumes and the graveyard go back in the box
Low HP vignette - the red screen edge stayed on after you healed, and carried over into the next run
