About

Things are a bit different with this jam. It's not about building an entire game from scratch.. it's about exploring and creating tech that fascinates you. This means you can spend less time creating the bullshit of menu screens, and just get straight to the fun stuff.

This time around we've got a bunch of different categories, which we hope will increase the variety of entries and give people more chance to win. You don't have to nominate your entry for a specific category - we'll do that. It's our hope that this is going to be an artist friendly jam too.

Your entry doesn't need to be a game package. I would expect to see games, maps, models, prefabs and libraries - but we're accepting anything here.

Getting Started

If you've never used s&box before, it's pretty easy:
  1. Click the Log In button above
  2. Log in with your Steam Account
  3. Click banner at the top
  4. You'll now have s&box in your Steam Account
Our engine is pretty easy to get into. It's got a scene editor, GameObjects and Components. All code is in C#. Shader code is in hlsl. It has super fast hotloading.

We have a bunch of documentation here, but please let us know if you're finding anything difficult and we'll try to make things more obvious.

Rules

  1. Nothing previously released
  2. Using previously release assets/code is okay as long as it's not the main focus
  3. One submission per person
  4. You must have the permission/rights to use all the content in your entry
    • You can use Facepunch content
    • You can use content from sbox.game
  5. Your entry needs to be public on sbox.game (so we can try it)
  6. A single entry can win multiple categories (although I would be surprised)
