Hey all!
Back with a "quick" update. Took a lot of thinking and coding to get something in place for everyone. For fans that keep replaying, the difficulty changes shouldn't dumb down the game for you, but for new players or players who don't play for too long, this should benefit you at least a tiny bit to get you into the flow of the game.
These are the things changed for floor 1-3.
So difficulty flows better and should help new players not get "Kill your first enemy" "Your first death" then quit the game forever. :(
At Floor 1-2, enemies will be nerfed around most of its stats while on floor 3, they are at their original state.
- Floor 1: 70% nerf in stats.
- Floor 2: 45% nerf in stats.
- Floor 3+: 0% nerf in stats.
This won't mean much to players who find it quite hard to get past floor 4 (A good % of the player base).
But this will mean a lot to those who find the start quite jarring, and getting to floor 2 hard.
Now, does this mean the enemies are completely weak? No, does this limit spawns? No.
"What does this mean then!?" you must be asking....
Right, what this means is that the enemies get a nerf to these stats specifically.
- Move Speed
- Engage Speed - (When they are alerted by the player, they move at "Engage Speed")
- Reaction Time - (Deciding when to shoot)
- Aim Settle - (Aiming before shooting first bullet)
- Strafe Interval
- Shot Prediction - (Predicting where the player will move to and shooting there. Only ever reaching 20% so its not too unfair)
- Melee Cooldown
- Fire Rate
- Bullet Speed - (How fast a weapons bullet moves, per weapon)
Each value is adjusted different compared to others, like shot prediction is 0% on the first floor compared to lets say aim settle is 6x longer than default. Its all tweakable and the values I have put together for this update means there is a 70% nerf to enemies on floor 1, and 45% nerf on floor 2.
It is very complex but very simple in a way. I made it so its easily adjustable so I just want to get a feel after this update on how it performs for people.
NEXT PART!
The first part was quite long, as it is the main focus, but I have decided to tweak some other stuff with this update that should be quite small in comparison. (Let me know if its a horrible or lovely idea ahah)
Crouch Height and Speed is adjusted, so now you no longer crouch so close to the ground, and no longer move at a snails pace. So if you want to be a lot more accurate without crouching to a snails height, you can now do so!
Flashlight battery colours now fixed and should be percentage based. I originally hard coded it, due to this game originally being a single player horror story. Woops.
Enemies should spawn more and sometimes a bit less, though this might mean its harder overall, but I had multiple systems messing with enemy spawns so I simplified it a bit.
In turn, I also tweaked how items in general spawn, mainly the ammo. Ammo should spawn a bit more BUT less ammo per container, this is done to make ammo spawning easily to manage while also making it so players end up using more than 1 ammo type instead of focusing on only SMG or whatever.
Lastly, Rifles should spawn a floor earlier, and ammo should spawn earlier too but in less amounts until later levels. Still quite rare though.
