This question has been raised many times in discord, but I think now is the right time to ask it again before release. Do you think we need an official assets store? What does FP think about this?
My opinion is that I would be happy if 3D artists could monetise not only skins, but also models. But I support the idea of a community store as well. It's just that an official store would be more trustworthy, and we already have a payment system (tipalti) ✔️

I disagree with fp dealing with it, they've never been in the marketplace business, and they're a pain to manage. They've also made the statement many times that if they community wants a marketplace, the community can make it.

i think this goes against what they are trying to do with sbox, they want open creativity and innovation while still finding to support creators without restricting their content. if they started putting assets beyond paywalls that's the creation of a barrier to creativity.
Now if people want to act as a producer and create premium assets that they themselves then offer, i see no issue with that. but to me facepunch is more interested in being the creative outlet.
It's not something we particularly want to do ourselves (unless we can do it using Steam workshop).. but if a popular third party site popped up we'd definitely look at ways to integrate it into the editor.
