What are some indicators of s&box's eventual success? Currently, many of us involved in the community look forward to s&box in all its glory, but what does that look like to you?

Obviously, player count is an obvious one: https://steamdb.info/app/590830/charts/#3y

I'd like to think the quality of the popular games, and amount of players who return to play day after day, would be high indicators of s&box's success. I wonder if these are quantifiable?

Honestly there was a period where the discord channel #waywo would only see a post every week, nowadays it gets 1 or more each day and I think that's a small success in of itself.

When every top game has at least 1 server full of players then we'll start seeing some snowballing as more and more can actually find something to play on s&box.

This is definitely a very positive indicator. Love it!

It's important to remember that S&box hasn't been released yet and very few people know about the Key Steam function on the website. I wouldn't go by the player numbers. Media presence is more important. The dev tools issue shouldn't be forgotten either.

No one wants to work with tools that are unfinished or don't work (general modding tools for games) or if there are too few assets. No one wants to create textures and models just so they can get something useful out of the engine and tools at the beginning.
