Every player now carries a paint marker in slot 1, in every mode, with unlimited paint. It is not a pickup, it is not a reward, it is a lifestyle. Splat the hills. Tag a pine tree. Repaint your friend's entire back while they stand at the edge of a cliff admiring the view they were about to ruin anyway.

Pick a color, any color

There are 8 paint colors to choose from, in Options or on the quick palette (tap P while playing). Your color follows you around the session, so everyone knows exactly who painted the lake pink. Own it.

Paintball is a real game mode now

Pick Paintball from the Play menu or the Tab game modes panel and it stops being decoration and starts being war. Free-for-all by default, or teams if your lobby has trust issues (teams paint in team colors). Most splats in the round wins, round lengths are up to you, and the round starts on its own once everyone is in.

And the start is the best part: everyone air-drops onto a battle ring at round start. The ring scales with the lobby, so 2 players land close and personal while 16 players get a proper warzone. Steer your fall, pick your landing, come up firing.

Small things that make it better

The world holds thousands of splats now (16x more than before), and bodies hold three times more paint before the oldest coats recycle. Press 8 or scroll past your gadgets to go hands free. Hosts get a Player Paint toggle in the Tab world panel for sessions that need a ceasefire, and body paint wipes clean the moment you flip it. The server browser now shows whose world you are joining, so go find somebody's world and leave your mark.

What's next

The marker is getting a wardrobe. Biome-forged skins are on the workbench right now, and a little shop called The Workshop is coming to the Tab menu to hold them. More on that soon.

Grab some friends, pick a color, settle it in the arena.
