Paintball Baddies — PUBLIC BETA / WORK IN PROGRESS

Play: https://sbox.game/solovolt/paintball-baddies/

September 15 update: multiplayer voice chat is live, alongside the latest combat, HUD and sound fixes. I'd especially appreciate voice tests between different PCs.

Now live in build 381619: one PLAY button finds a public match or starts one with five AI opponents. People replace AI as they join, and AI fills seats when people leave. Match Options and Settings & Controls are separate, simpler pages. Round awards and local personal bests remain, and Feedback opens this thread inside the game. Please try joining, leaving and starting another round, and tell me what feels confusing.

Tap V once to open your microphone, then tap V again to mute. Your microphone starts muted; opening M mutes it too. M > SETTINGS & CONTROLS > MIC CONTROL offers optional hold-to-talk, and VOICE CHAT OFF mutes both your microphone and incoming voices. A MIC ON indicator stays visible even when gameplay text is hidden. Everyone in your multiplayer match can hear you; AI do not use microphones. Select your microphone and voice volume in s&box settings. X is now vault; J still toggles the scoreboard. Controls are remappable.

Could you check whether you can hear each other clearly, whether V reliably starts and stops your voice, and whether anything drops out while moving, shooting or starting another round? Please report echo, delay, distortion, or voices that are too quiet or too loud. Tell me whether you hosted or joined and whether the problem affected one direction or both. Two local instances passed the control checks, but conversations between different PCs still need player testing. Please relaunch the game to get the latest build.

Hi! I'm the solo creator behind SoloVolt Games. I don't have an established online audience or a playtest group, and I've been doing the hands-on testing myself. I need fresh eyes on the game: people who can try it without already knowing how everything is meant to work.

Could you spare two rounds and tell me what was fun, what felt confusing or frustrating, and what one thing you would change first? Honest criticism is welcome—even one sentence helps. I'm actively improving controls, AI, animation and audio, and releasing fixes as quickly as I can test them.

I’m also exploring new game modes to make every round more varied and rewarding. What would you enjoy playing next? Your feedback will help shape them, while polishing the current game remains the priority.

Take cover, splat rivals and stay in the fight. Play 1, 2, 3 or 5 minute rounds, in public matches with up to six competitors, mixing people and AI. AI fills empty seats, so you can play even when no one else is online. Hits landed minus hits received determines your points, with +2 for knocking an opponent down and -2 for being knocked down; fewer paint hits received breaks ties. Public matches are player-hosted and end when the host leaves.

M opens the menu and controls. B starts a Baddies round. H toggles gameplay text; J toggles the scoreboard. Controls can be remapped.

For a bug report, please say whether you hosted or joined, and how many people and AI were present; what happened; what you expected; and how to repeat it. A short clip helps with movement and animation problems. For performance issues, add your hardware, resolution and settings. Please keep private account information out of reports. Six-human Internet play, longer-session stability and animation polish still need wider testing.

After the game jam ends, I'm committed to releasing the original game code under MIT, together with editable project files and assets that I have the right to redistribute. I'll document separately licensed dependencies and how to obtain them. The original code is already browsable through the Source tab. Community changes will be reviewed and credited before official inclusion.

I'm building with AI tools: generative AI assisted code and selected artwork. Native s&box/Citizen systems, library assets and credited audio are also used. See the included asset credits.

Thanks for giving a solo project a try and helping me improve it.
