Welcome everyone to the first S&Box Sweeper News Blog! 

I'm super excited to talk more about S&Box Sweeper, the origin, and where I am with the project so far. So far S&Box Sweeper has been a blast with many of you so far, and I can't thank you all enough for all the amazing feedback and how much potential the game has as a Gamemode. For this first News Blog, we'll go over the origin of S&Box Sweeper, what content is currently released, and what features  & updates you can expect from me in the future!
Back in Team Fortress 2, and Counter Strike: Source, I played custom maps for a gamemode called Jailbreak. Within most of the Jailbreak maps, there were custom mini-games that the Guards would send the Prisoners to play and compete each other for a Last Request. One Mini-game in particular was called Sweeper. Sweeper had about 10-20 platforms on it, but between all the platforms was a long pushing stick that kept spinning and spinning, hoping to knock players over into the water which would kill the Prisoners who missed their jumps.

This mini-game inspired me entirely for this project! I'm a huge fan of Sweeper from the Source Gamemode, and so with the amazing Dev support and Dev tools S&Box has to offer, I was able to execute a slightly, well... good portion of that idea which needs a lot of work.

Well for what's currently in the game, we have the core gameplay systems prototyped, as well as 5 maps using these systems!
We also have Throwable Items or as they're called behind the scenes a Pickupable!
So far, I've been getting out of nowhere ideas from my head, feedback from players, and even more inspiration from other Party Games and currently working on some awesome upcoming features and maps to S&Box Sweeper. For now though, it's important for me to focus a little less on adding more content, and to focus on polishing current content and finding as many bugs as I can early, so I can fix them and not worry about them later.   • Added the all-new Snow Sweep Map!
  • Snow Sweep exclusive Ice Bomb has been added to the Spawn Manager for Snow Sweep
  • Return To Lobby & End Match Early System with a Vote Update: Added a Host-Leaded Vote Skip System. The Host of the Lobby has to press I(i) on their keyboard to initiate a Vote Skip Map for the session!

  • Improved Code Optimization
  • Improved Round Manager Code Optimization
  • Improved & updated the platforms in the Invasion Sweep since they were way too high sometimes.
  • Improved & adjusted the Turret Cannon Volume since it was way too high
  • Improved & adjusted the Music Volume for all players.
  • Improved to have the Turrets in The Facility shoot a little bit slower.
  • Improved the Spaceships on the Invasion Sweeper since they were shooting too slow.
  • Improved & added Killing Out of Bounds Colliders outside of the map for when players fall outside the map.
🪛 Fixed
  • Fixed Mid-Round Joiners stealing the Match Win from current players.
  • Fixed Round Manager Code Optimization
  • Fixed when Late in the round Ragdoll Physics are causing major FPS Drop Issues (Potential Memory Issue with Physics being Stored)
  • Fixed when Players are getting hit by a Turret Bullet, it's triple sending Death Messages into the Kill Feed.
  • Fixed when a player is hit by a Throwing Dagger, their body is like stiff sitting still and looked frozen.
  • Fixed when sometimes when a Player hits another Player with a Throwing Dagger, it won't register and hit them.
  • Fixed when the Start Game / Vote Starter can be activated multiple times by the Host.
  • Fixed when you see other players load into the game, players will use your S&Box Customization and not theirs. This fixes when the other player respawns.
  • Fixed when the Alien UFOs only abduct the Host and not Non-host players
⚠️ Known Issues
  • On some occurences, when the map goes to Switch Scenes, the game will stall out and not load the Scene. This Needs more Testing / Needs to happen again for confirmation
  • The Camera Collision will be zoomed in and affected by other Players causing Zoom-ins & Zoom-outs when you collide with someone else.
  • The Sweeper at the end of the round will sometimes keep it's last round speed, causing it to be really fast at the start of the next round. This is potentially a Network Sync issue, but it still needs more testing and confirmation
  • There are multiple get out of the playable area Jump spots in Grass Sweep & Facility Sweep.
