Now that we're in a more stable shape long-term for dedicated servers, among other things, the focus I had this week became map choices and voting options for lobby/server hosts. The big change is there is no longer a whitelist for maps. The whitelist was never a long-term setup, but when the game launched, we saw loads of dedicated server hosts and players getting confused about what maps are compatible or playing on very old, broken ones. We don't like having to restrict map choice for people, so I'm happy to be getting rid of that this early.

We'll be working with a map category system from here on out:
- "Official" maps made by us for TTT
- "Community Verified" maps we sign off on as being awesome and well-designed for the TTT player experience
- All other maps targeting our package will be available by default

There are a number of known maps from the Entity days that are still on the workshop and are unplayably broken/crash the game if loaded; those are blacklisted. We're working on setting up compatibility for external maps that don't target TTT, too, so stay tuned for that!

The amount of available maps to play on just went up significantly, so we've also added some gameplay-related categories and additional tooling for vote options and server map choices. Server hosts now have the option to display map vote options based on player count: we check how many players are in-lobby and display the most suitable options based on the map's size.

I also added an early tag system for maps based on features included in them. For example, the Tester or Traps tags indicates that the map has a traitor tester or traps on it.  Mappers can self-categorize with the native tag setup and we can assign flags internally as well.

Right now we have:
Tester for traitor testers
Traps for traitor traps
T Room for traitor rooms
Secrets for easter eggs (although maybe you don't want to reveal there is one)

These are still early days and we're planning on adding more to the category system. I'm curious to know what other sort of tags come to mind for players- maybe a "Verticality" tag for maps like Rooftops, or "Prop-heavy" for maps like Community Bowling? Let me know what you think!
Rooftops 2026, made by youmenow1 (the original rooftops & rooftops 2016 creator) is being developed and is available for live play!
We're in the middle of working on several Traitor/Detective shop adds... Stay tuned!

Great to see prop possession being added. Which maps have been added?
Quite a few! The full list is actually dynamic & grows based on maps that are targeting the package, so it's not easy to collect all of them and post here. It's easiest to browse the map selection on the main menu, but you can also list current map pools by typing t.maps. in the console, then choosing which pool you want to see the full list for (e.g. t.maps.verified )
