The
5/6 s&box update was rough on TTT. While frustrating to have maintenance updates temporarily break performance, it also revealed some older bad practices we had been meaning to clean up- especially around map handling, prop behavior, and interactable objects during round resets.
A lot of this update (and why it took us some time to get out) was spent adapting to those changes properly rather than trying to patch around them. The upside is that several systems are now cleaner, sturdier, and better aligned with how s&box appears to be handling things long-term.
The most noticeable parts of this update will likely be fixes for newly introduced performance issues, smoother round resets, better server behavior, and the first batch of expanded host/admin settings. Some pain points are still being worked through, but this should be a meaningful step forward.
Moderation
We've gotten plenty of positive and negative feedback about the moderation tools we have available so far; after we expanded the tools available for server/lobby hosts, loads of negative feedback came in about admin/mod abuse and poor gameplay experience. To combat that, we've added a global ban system: reserved for the most serious cases of repeated misconduct, especially when a player is using their role as a server moderator, lobby host, or community figure to create a harmful experience for others. They will be used carefully, reviewed seriously, and kept as rare as possible while the game and its moderation tools continue to develop.
Eventually, global bans will disappear entirely- this is to preserve a decent experience and QOL for honest players while the game is still a work in progress.
Settings
We’ve been doing some cleanup around our internal host settings structure so more options can be exposed safely and reliably over time. A lot of players have been asking for more control over how their servers play, and many of those requests have helped point out areas where the existing setup needed improvement. Thank you, as always, for the feedback. It helps us prioritize what matters most.
This update adds several new server/admin options, including votekick controls, RTV controls, karma-related toggles, and scoreboard moderation actions. We’ll continue expanding these as the game stabilizes and as we get a better sense of what server hosts need/want.
Proximity chat is now available, per the request of many.
