Quick update: you may notice the map runs smoother since the last few updates.

It turns out that due to Hammer/Scene editor compatibility issues, most physics props were not correctly “Starting Asleep” and were remaining active from map load, this resulted in notable performance loss and contributed to the lag often experienced at map/round load.

Until the scene editor is fully supported by TTT, I’ve reduced and disabled a number of excess physics props across the map as a temporary optimisation measure.

From testing, this has had a significant impact on both local and server performance (going from 80 FPS in far corners of the map to 100 FPS).

If you were experiencing performance issues before, it’s worth reloading the map and testing again, things should now run noticeably smoother!


11 JUNE 2026 UPDATE:

Further optimization passes (such as TTT weapon spawners and entity cleanup) have also been implemented since this initial news post, improving performance on highly populated servers (and pushing the T building corner FPS to 110-115 in local tests). 

Optimization features will also soon be pushed onto the main TTT branch which should improve this even more once implemented.
