Everything that has made snake such a cult classic has todo with how it controls, how readable movement is, and the dificuly comes from your snake getting larger and having to plan around it.
In snek none of that design has been taken into account, and honestly just makes it frustrating.
- The large turn radius makes you fight with controls, in my session i have had multiple times where i just missed the apple because i didn't turn on time.
- Apples are so small its hard to see sometimes.
At some point in the game they will randomize your position, that by far is the worst decision you could have made its not fun and the player has no control over their faith at that point.
The audio cue's are cute but add no real value.
As for the boxes that spawn/randomize after each pickup you could have added some kind of falling into the world animation to make the world feel more alive & give the player a sense of whats changing
That seemed to be one of the developers objectives with the characters walking around and their random "fights"
