The first big update since launch, and the eggs have been busy.
🎃 Halloween (until 2 November)
- The Jack-o'-Egg. A treat full of candy and yolk… or, one time in five, a trick.
- The Ghost Egg. A brown egg under a bedsheet. It hovers. It says BOO.
- Both spawn for everyone, no unlock needed, and they come back every October.
- The world dresses up: a dusk sky over every theme, giant jack-o'-lanterns, bats, falling leaves, and the sun has found a witch's hat.
- New achievement: Trick or Treat. Break 31 Halloween eggs.
The eggs know you
They've been watching. Now and then an egg (or the narrator) will mention your name, what time it is, what day it is, how many of their family you've broken, the last Mother Egg you took, and how long you were gone. That's all we'll say.
Balance, from your feedback
- New shells aren't a wall any more. Eggs your utensil needs more than 10 hits for show up less often, so a new shell opens on eggs you can actually break, and the tough ones come back as you upgrade. The shop tells you when a kind is fading.
- New egg kinds put up a fight. Every kind past the plain egg is tougher and pays more yolk, so a kind you've just bought takes a few hits instead of popping in one.
- The sky bar shows progress. It fills on a log scale now, instead of sitting under 3% for half the shell.
- Hatching asks first. It shows the feathers you'll get and what you keep.
- Oddities are rarer. There's a 3 to 7 minute wait between drops, and ones you haven't found are 4× likelier than repeats. All twelve is a real hunt now.
Comfort
- Options → Screen flashes turns off the full-screen flashes and the Void Egg's colour inversion. Even with it on, the inversion can't strobe any more.
- At large UI sizes, the Options panel now scrolls instead of running off the screen.
