For a moment I was excited to see an original game on s&box. The controls are not really to my taste; I guess I am too casual of a player - and I never managed to hit anyone :( But I liked the huge map and the plane selection. The sound and visual effects felt abrupt, and the engine noise even reminded me of that one meme that sounds like someone's shitting down an oil drum. Interesting use of the F1 menu as a help page!
Though something caught my eye: Claude LLM really loves to generate this style of UI, and some may have recognized it from the other slop games. I got suspicious when I noticed that the ammo count is not hash-coded - that is, the ammo updates only when the state of the UI changes (like rotating your camera). That might be my paranoia, but to me it was also a sign of generated code, because the engine is relatively new and modern models don't "know" much about how s&box works.
A quick decompile (if you can even call it decompilation, with all the source code kept fully intact in the .cll file) confirmed some excessive commenting with the beloved long "—" dashes and "→" arrows. Damn.
Look, I'm not one of those anti-AI fanatics, but the LLM generated code was a bummer.
Still, I'm looking forward to any future updates - finally, an interesting game in the sea of idle simulators :)
