I don't like how it doesn't merge favorites/likes/reviews from asset.party and Steam Workshop. Now my game is back to square one (0 likes, 0 favorites when clicking on the game in S&box itself), which makes me feel very iffy about discoverability :/
I think this is a mistake to go this route for games. downloading them is better and it keeps them updates yes, but I believe that having access to asset party and uploading them that way was superior. I think this leans a bit too much into the gmod side, and if you guys really are going for an improved "gmod 2" experience, then mods and addons should be on the workshop for the sandbox mode, but games should stay on asset party.
I don't really see any discourse being that games are not on workshop, I believe that people coming in from gmod would not care about that, they would care if mods and addons were, but i think entire games should remain as they are.
there has to be a middle ground here, and believe this leans to much into the already existent.
I don't know, but the general discourse I've seen has been player models, mounts, and lack of a solid sandbox mode. games themselves, their only real discourse has been not wanting to see slop.
They also did not enjoy micro transactions, but i believe that can be alleviated by having all the other concerns heavily addressed.
I could be wrong though, but this is my opinion idk i guess you can cancel me for it i guess idkk.....
The worst possible decision ever taken by Facepunch, I mean I'm okay with maps and addons on the steam workshop but not games, this is just crap, now we (devs) have to reupload the WHOLE entire game to the steamworkshop everytime we make an update, instead of just sending the new files. On top of that dedup isn't supported, which means we will redownload the same assets multiple times for different games.
Nope there is not a single positive things about this decision, apart to please to the GMOD fanboys who still don't understand that S&box workshop is just infinitely better in every SINGLE way possible.
I pray for this change to be reverted.
