Been enjoying seeing the slow but steady progression on the game and have been buying all of the items to help as much as I can, but I noticed that the Hard Hat,Chef Apron and face/neck tattoo items aren't available in the store. I went back and read every dev update to see if there was ever a warning about them being timed items but couldn't find any. Are these items temporarily disabled, or am I shit out of luck? Starting playing earlier this year. Best of luck in any case!
The cosmetics should come back even if it was a different Steam item. Chef Apron and Hard Hat are common enough that I'd want to use them as normal cosmetics. Not to mention people were using both items before they became limited, it's only fair they get a chance to buy them again.

You literally have 2 hard hats in your inventory, the other 2 users in this thread have never played a s&box game and only care about the speculative market.
I've known players that wore hardhats and aprons for years before the Steam shop was added and they didn't have a chance to buy them despite being here longer than you people have.
It's not even about devaluing your precious items since they were made for testing purposes, I'm saying to have the cosmetics available again for purchase under a different item id, so in the future people can buy them at reasonable prices.
Yeah, I have no issue with items being limited but not even having a warning of their limited availability definitely leaves a bad feeling for me personally. Was going to try to collect all the items but with the few in circulation going for over $1000 I guess that's never going to happen lol

I agree, test/error items should be the exception not the golden standard, it discourages people from collecting all cosmetics in the future, losing Facepunch money.
It sounds silly, but yeah I totally get what you mean. I'm still going to play the hell out of S&box regardless but if I'm already out of luck collecting all the items this early on I probably won't buy any other items since the idea of having a completed collection is already dead in the water :(

This will not stop collectors. Limited availability is the very reason most collectors are interested in starting a collection in the first place.

Facepunch confirmed that community items similar to previously existing cosmetics won't be accepted, so there won't be a new hardhat or chef apron.

The apron was literally unbuyable from the store, the only person that managed to do so did it through a third party website.

I haven't heard this so I don't know the exact words used. But I think that is probably talking about near 1:1 remakes. I don't think it means there can never be another hard hat or apron style item. And Facepunch can ship first party variants regardless of community submission rules.

Reissuing the same asset or ID to fix that mistake sets a bad precedent. I understand being bummed that you don't have one but the answer is not rewriting history.
Regardless, it seems recent updates confirm that Facepunch is firm on this. At this point, it seems more productive to ask for similar items specifically rather than for retired items to be added back to the store.
Sure, you might not be able to get every skin for a game after they were initially available but that's the deal with such a new and small economy. There's really no need to bicker over this, if you're a collector of such things and you cannot justify spending the money on an item for either financial and fundamental reasons you've got to remember that it only matters to you.
I did just see a screenshot in a loosely related Discord showcasing that both of the Face Tattoos /market/listings/590830/Neck%20Tattoo & /market/listings/590830/Face%20Tattoos don't have the blue tagline clarifying if they were only available in a timeframe leading to speculation about them returning in the future, like how certain Halloween Skins come back almost every year inside the Rust Store example: /market/listings/252490/Cursed%20Cauldron

So wrong and presumptous, I was one of the users that checked every day for new items and bought one of each, it's how I got my hard hat.
My citizensona used the chef apron because at the time we were working on our game "Hamsteria" (something these market speculators would never understand) and I, as the one in charge of making the food models, was dressed as the "line cook", you can see me in the background of this concept art we had commissioned wearing the chef apron:The apron never hit the store, the only one bought was by some market speculator that got it through third party means, not in the store, you can say the hard hat was a limited run item, but you really cannot in good faith extend the same privilege to the chef apron, as it never even got a "run" in the first place.
Adding removed cosmetics would hurt the play fund and reduce how much people will spend. The only reason I have spent $10000+ on cosmetics for S&Box is due to them being limited. If they were never limited I would spend nothing and so would all the other collectors who spend $10000+. Honestly it would reduce the number of cosmetic sales by 80-90 percent.
I can understand the argument for the Apron, but that logic does not stretch to the hard hat or anything else, since those were available, people could buy them, and there was a clear path to trade after. Different situations. You can argue for a limited fix just for that item, whether that is a new ID, a different color, or in the extreme, restoring the original because it never actually launched right.
My stance is the same. I do not think rewriting history (adding the same item ID back) is ideal.
Whether Facepunch wants to allow a rare exception for "bugged launches" or not, I would sleep just fine. I'm not even sure I would call it a bugged launch, the game itself hasn't launched and the Apron was likely used or intended to be used to create the in-game store itself.
As the only owner of the apron, I'm happy to allow my apron to get turned into something special + I would like to request my "new special" cosmetic stays a 1 of 1 and Marketable/Tradable
I really hope that Facepunch will make that special item untradable / unmarketable and also unwearable considering crazyboys is the only person to own one and he does so much shady stuff. His shady business practices would literally be rewarded if he's given something appealing or tradable.

Neptunux (the original owner) didn’t even realize it was a 1 of 1, and instead of being honest, you hid that fact and ripped him off with a pile of market-inflated junk you had manipulated beforehand. That’s not just shady. Market manipulation is against Steam’s TOS.
He insists on keeping the item marketable and tradeable, just so he can profit from the scam. Classic scammer behaviour.
i want it to be marketable/tradeable because thats what makes a 1 of 1 cosmetic valuable. Neptunux never asked for any information, I simply offered him a trade and he accepted. Idk what more i can say.
