It's our intention for s&box to be cross-platform, a native Linux client is a good start.

as a Linux user wanting to make games with the editor, i'd go beyond glazing this game if s&box was native

Adding Linux support is absolutely must-have.
Especially considering the recent increase in users moving from Windows to Linux distros

Unity even has a Linux client, so it would be great if s&box did too.

The main game not having a Linux Native client isn't necessarily an issue for me, but the editor is more difficult to work with because it doesn't have a native version.

Bought the game and the editor. Now I will wait until it works on Linux. I have not used Microslop and I do not intend to. Besides I was really hyped for this release.

The Editor can be quite a hassle to work with on Linux so a native client would be super cool!!!
Game itself works super well with Proton but it'd still be nice to have a native option also! :)

I had to switch to Windows to use the s&box editor properly. I'm really looking forward to the release of the native version.

Like the guy above me, I'm having to use Windows to use the editor. I would be so grateful if I could do dev on my preferred platform, but regardless, enjoying the tools so far.

Is there any way for us to contribute to this?

I dont mind having to use Proton for the game itself but i will definitely not switch to Windows to use s&box editor. Any update on the development of the editor for linux?

The tooling binaries are not ported to linux yet and they are not open source, so we kinda just have to wait untill they port those binaries

Will it include the editor? In the client i have minor issues like crashing the game everytime i change a setting, but the real problem here is the editor, it's almost impossible to use it with wine.

I'd appreciate a straight answer on whether this includes the editor, because it's pretty useless if it doesn't. The game itself is playable, but the editor is completely unusable, so the editor should be the primary focus here.

You can't make it work on the editor without making it work on the game first.

One step at a time.

Fair enough, that answers my question. Thanks for clearing it up, and sorry if I came across a bit pushy.

Thanks! We just wanted to know that it was being planned on at all or just the client. Take your time, and know that your efforts are appreciated.
