Nobody wants to run servers on Windows. The engine builds for Linux, there are some runtime bugs to resolve still.

A linux version of everything in general would be nice, s&box doesn't like to cooperate with Proton.

Linux version native please. Game likes to act up on proton. Would be a smart move with the steam machines coming out. And steam decks

Yeah we're gonna do that. But the dedicated server is what you get working first.

proton was a pain but I managed it with wine, Was able to get it to work on docker with it being compatible with pterodactyl for proper hosting (non-root, proper console output).

Few of the things i did find.
- Debian is basically a no go, too meny issues with wine
- Dependencies: Wine (both 32 and 64), win10, vcrun2022, xvfb-run, Winetricks,
- Split docker setup, Build with Debian, run with Alpine.

Still a few things I am trying to sort:
- runtime steamcmd can problematic for updates
- logs to /home/container/logs
- ability to swap to staging.

The Image & egg can be found on github

Linux server helps pave the way for the game/engine itself to run natively, so this has my full attention. Thank you, developers, for giving us linux users hope.

Can’t wait to have an official Linux repository for SteamCMD, at least we’ll be able to report all the bugs on dedicated server linux

Linux better overall, theres a reason its configured for the most stable server infrastructure on the planet.

Hopefully will be looking into improving this further, however FP needs to adjust their InteropGen for native linux

Is there a plan to have native Linux support for the s&box editor?
