Paintball Baddies — solo developer looking for playtesters
Hi! I'm the solo creator behind SoloVolt Games. I've been making Paintball Baddies, a third-person paintball game with cover, shields and rounds lasting 1, 2, 3 or 5 minutes. It's in public beta on s&box, with online multiplayer for up to six people and AI filling empty seats. You can try it on your own.
I don't have an established online audience or a playtest group. I've been doing the hands-on testing myself, so I really need fresh eyes on how it feels to someone who didn't make it. I'm building with AI tools alongside s&box's existing systems and assets, and there are still rough edges to improve.
If you can spare two rounds, I'd love to hear: what was fun, what felt confusing or frustrating, and what one thing you would change first? Honest criticism and bug reports are welcome. If something breaks, please mention whether you were playing solo, hosting or joining; a short clip helps too.
September 15 update: the latest build adds multiplayer voice chat. I'd especially appreciate people testing conversations between different PCs: can both players hear each other clearly, does V reliably toggle the microphone on/off, and are there delays or dropouts? Your mic starts muted; M opens the options and mutes it. Hold-to-talk is optional in M, and X is now vault. Local control checks passed, but real conversations still need player feedback. Please relaunch for the update; the feedback thread below has the full voice test notes.
After the game jam ends, I'm committed to releasing the original game code under MIT, together with editable project files and assets that I have the right to redistribute. I'll document separately licensed dependencies and how to obtain them. The original code is already browsable through the Source tab. Community changes will be reviewed and credited before official inclusion.
